PDF detail sheets

An existing PDF details package becomes sheets in the same set as everything else: one layout per PDF page, each with a viewport pointed at that page, numbered and titled like any other sheet. Pages can be imported all at once, as a range, or picked individually, and the set is updated in place afterwards.

Building the detail sheets

Step 1. Set the title block and the viewport size. This comes before every workflow, without exception. On the Welcome tab press PDF/Detail, then Set TB and pick your title block. Switch to the _TEMPLATE_TB layout yourself, because PDF/Detail does not switch layouts for you as the other tabs do, and set the maximum viewport area there.

Step 2. Press Import PDF and browse to the file. Choose the pages, all of them, a range, or picked individually, and fill in the naming: title, sheet prefix, separator and starting number. A live preview shows the result.

Step 3. A tile boundary is created for each page you chose.

Step 4. Press Build Sheets. One layout is created per PDF page, each with a viewport pointed at that page.

From then on use Update Sheets. Build Sheets greys out by design once detail sheets exist.

To stamp title block data on every sheet, press Config Attributes and then Update Sheets.

If Build Sheets fails, open Health, run Full Health and Auto Repair, then try again.

Naming PDF detail sheets

The naming is set once, in the import dialog.

Step 1. Press Import PDF. The dialog carries the naming block: title, sheet prefix, separator and starting number, with a live preview.

Step 2. Type the starting number exactly as you want it to appear. Leading zeros are kept, so 01 gives C7-01 while 1 gives C7-1.

The naming is saved with the drawing, so Build Sheets and Update Sheets reuse it without asking again.

To change the prefix, separator or starting number later, press Renumber Sheets. To edit individual titles, press Edit Sheet Names.

Reshuffling after deleting pages

After deleting PDF pages or detail sheets, the tab shows a warning naming how many sheets and pages were removed, and inviting a reshuffle.

Step 1. Press Reshuffle PDF. It finds the deleted pages, compacts what remains into fewer bundles, and rebuilds the layouts to match.

Step 2. Accept the prompt confirming how many pages will be reshuffled into how many bundles.

Step 3. If pages from different PDFs share a tile, you are also asked whether to keep the current arrangement or reshuffle them separately. Reshuffling separates the mixed tiles back to their original documents.

Two messages worth recognising. That all tiles are full means there is nothing to compact. That no PDF pages remain means the empty tiles need deleting first, then reshuffle again.

The button only becomes available once detail sheets exist, and the warning clears itself once the counts settle.

Updating existing PDF sheets

Once detail sheets exist, Build Sheets greys out by design and Update Sheets takes over for every change.

To stamp an attribute block you configured after building, press Config Attributes and then Update Sheets. The update copies the attribute block from the template, re-seats the title block XREF, and fills the sheet number, sheet name and scale.

If the values stay blank and your title block is an XREF using field-style attributes, that is a limitation of linked title blocks rather than an update problem. Field-backed values are filled through Sheet Set Manager, not by writing attributes.
